WHAT TO WEAR FOR VALENTINE’S DAY? OBVIOUSLY, WHAT YOU DAMN WELL LIKE!

Valentine’s Day is around the corner and so, as they say, love is in the air. In other words, an intense fixation on romantic love is on the rise in a world of #relationship goal. From commercials that are geared to buying all thing’s lovers related to what to wear for Valentine’s Day. Honestly, I am not a sucker for Valentine’s Day, I think it brings a lot of pressure. The pressure to be out celebrating with someone special can be immense and for people who are single it’s almost as if you are incomplete or there is something wrong with you, often left feeling inadequate and missing out. But all the commercials, flowers, chocolates, engagement rings aside I think Valentine Day Is just that one day where we all want to be treated extra special and feel immense love from our significant other. I think it’s the one day when life is going full swing to stop and recognize the love we have, a day to remind the people that you care for that they are truly appreciated and loved. Phew, got that out of the way…now to the important part!

Valentine’s Day outfit …No breaking the bank!

On a lighter fashion note, I got my adult self-thinking on what I would wear (I am a big advocate on finding pieces in your existing closet), without breaking the bank, if I decided to celebrate the day. I know red is the color, but I always want to put a spin on my look without being too cliché. So, I decided that on Valentine’s Day I would like to channel a little bit of sexy and a lot of chic. Because you really need to dress for you, right?

Transitional pieces

I am huge fan of transitional pieces. Key reasons are they save you time, space, money and most importantly you have an endless outfit options. I wanted to create an outfit that you can easily transition from day to night as quickly as possible with simple accessory modifications. You never want to have say no to a last-minute night out plan!

Style tip…...You don’t constantly have to buy outfits for every occasion, find new and interesting ways to style your pieces.

Accessories

are also vital to creating a new outfit with your already existing wardrobe. Fashion becomes fun if you play around with your clothes. For the Valentine’s Day look;I wanted something chic and bold and nothing says ‘here I am’ better than a black and white striped pants over an over sized blazer. The red boots just give that subtle valentine feel without going overboard.

For the night look I was going for a sexy look and nothing adds a pop of color like red boots. All I had to do for the night look was to lose the pants, change up my black turban for an animal print hat and VIOLA my night time transition was complete!

Style tip…...Find pieces to wear that can easily move you from day to night. No matter how you are spending Valentine’s Day/Night, wear whatever you damn well like! This day may be manufactured for the retail world but don’t lose sight of the idea that when love is in the air you need to accentuate it with fashion! As usual remember #BeBoldBeBraveBeDifferent.
