HOW TO REFRESH YOUR WARDROBE WITHOUT SPENDING A DIME
Sometimes it’s hard not feel as though you have nothing to wear. It’s a feeling I am familiar with and nine times out of ten, the main culprit behind this dilemma is that we simply don’t know what we already have in our closets. It can create a feeling of being in a style rut. The reality for many of us is that we don’t have a huge clothing budget to constantly update our wardrobe to get out of a style rut. Most of us are saving for really important life goals, like starting that business, buying a home, or travelling. So, I want to offer you some quick solutions that will help you build more variety into your wardrobe without breaking the bank.
PLAY DRESS UP WITH YOUR WARDROBE
Remember when you used to play dress up when you were a little kid and you would spend the day just trying out different outfits without a care in the world? Well in order to get acquainted with what is in your wardrobe you need to play dress up. Dress up allows you to be familiar with what you have in your closet while trying out clothes in a relaxed setting and this allows for your creativity to come out. When you familiarize yourself with your clothes again you will start to notice pieces of clothes that you had neglected for a while that you will be inspired to wear.
GET MORE WEAR FROM YOUR WARDROBE
I have written several posts on how to wear different pieces multiple ways as this is the key on getting more wear from your clothes. A good example is the white work shirt that I have worn underneath the black dress. A shirt under a dress is the ultimate styling trick. It is important to see what thing you can pair in your outfit. Think of how you always wear your jeans or your favorite clothing items and wear them differently. Can you try wearing them with a unique top? For example, if you always wear your skinnies with a flat and try them with mules or sneakers or even add socks. Switch things around.
LAYERING
To get out of a style rut you need to employ the tactic of challenging yourself which involves layering. layering allows you to be creative while keeping your outfits feeling new and refreshing. Could you try layering some of your tops in a new way? Consider layering pieces even from different seasons. Such as booties and a floral summer skirt. With layering, try working with different textures so as to wear most of your clothing items. For instance, you could try wearing a top, a button-down shirt dress over jeans. To create a more sophisticated look to your jeans outfit. Also don’t forget injecting accessories to your look. Accessories have the instant power to transform a look and it’s an easy way to refresh your closet.
GET INSPIRED
Picking up a fashion magazine or seeing a look on Pinterest that excites will help you to curate pieces of look that you love straight from your wardrobe. You could be surprised with the numerous looks you can create just by being familiar with your clothes after getting your brain stirred up with images that inspire you. So remember you don’t have to go out shopping to get out of a style rut or have new clothes to refresh your closet just look within your existing wardrobe with a different mindset and by no time you will be creating many new looks that costed you nothing. I hope this helps. As usual #beboldbebravebedifferent
